All nine artists from the the Wuming Group - the No Name Group had just finished their paintings by the time I arrived. They were in the park to celebrate. Since 1972, they had been painting in the parks and streets of Beijing.

"The artists working in Central Park today are part of an exhibition currently at the China Institute. By working and painting in the Park, they are going back to their roots as renegade artists during CHina's Cultural Revolution. Beginning in 1972, in an era when making unofficial art was a crime, these artists were members of a group making unofficial works, painting everyday life in the parks and streets of Beijing. They called themselves the Wuming group - the No Name group."

"Sum of Days, an environmental and participatory installation by the Brazilian artist Carlito Carvalhosa is a complex, elliptical network of pathways through a structure of translucent white fabric. . .

The maze of material incorporates a system of microphones that hang at various eights and record ambient noise; each day's sound is combined with the previous days' recordings and played back through several speakers inside the structure. As each new layer of audio is added, the oldest noises gradually diminish into whispers, part of an auditory condensation that builds up throughout the duration of the exhibition..." from the signage at the exhibition.

Warrie Price is a woman who knows what she wants and knows how to get it. It's a skill. In my experience the people who have it, have learned it from a parent. I don't have it and I envy those who do.

The Urban Farm at Battery Park is unique. It's one of many urban farms in New York City, but it's the only one that is designed to be an art piece. This is thanks to Warrie Price. With a donation of bamboo from the art piece, Big Bambu by Doug and Mike Starn, which was on the roof the Metropolitan Museum last year, two other designers were hired to create the fence enclosing the farm. It reminds one of a colonial American stockade fence, but with a twist of inspiration, just like the gardens at the Battery.

The Urban Farm will be at the Battery for two or three years. Replenishing the soil for the new bikeway and gardens designed by Piet Oudolf. Another lesson in sustainable gardening from The Battery.

A diary of flowers (realness) 1993
"Since the late 1980s, Hodges has consistently turned to everyday materials as starting points for his art, transforming them into objects of unsentimental beauty. From 1993 to 1996 he sketched flowers on napkins obtained from grocery stores and coffee shops, each a keepsake of a particular experience or emotion, like a page in a diary. A form of visual poetry, each "page" is spread out against the wall, part of a constellation of drawings -
like a field of wildflowers -
resists a chronological reading." MoMA text

Hodges ended Diary of Flowers on January 9, 1996,

the day his close friend and fellow artist, Felix Gonzalez-Torres died of AIDS.

In addition,

I don't like to stick my nose into other people's business, especially in a museum, but I couldn't help myself, when a little girl, took a handful of Felix Gonzalez-Torres artwork.

I admit it's pretty and it's pretty tempting.

I said to the little thief "That is someone's artwork."

This formidable steel strongbox is reinforced with an armature of the same material. Its elaborate locking mechanism, consisting of nine bolts and various leaf-shaped shields, offered the owner a safe storage place for his valuables.
